Lamborghini Egoista Concept Pics

Lamborghini has been and always will be at the forefront of design, that mimics the future.  Sharp lines, thruster mimic’d exhaust, and a car that borders unusable.  It’s for looks, it’s for boasting speed, and for showing off what could be done.  That’s why Lamborghini makes the best concept cars, the Egoista is no exception.

The Egoista is a single seater super car, with more than 600 horsepower and a cock pit that seems better fit inside a fighter jet.  It’s cliche, but the concept looks like it was built for a flying car, not a road warrior.  Even the rear of the vehicle mimics flaps and thrusters like what you would see on an aircraft.

But, I digress, it’s all for show, it is a concept and an outlandish Lamborghini.  This is why the spectacle garners so much attention from the automotive crowd.  And this is why, even the name, Egoista, means “selfish”.  Thank you Walter de Silva for creating such an amazing looking concept, perhaps the closest any of us will get to our very own rocket ship.

Alfa Romeo Finally Coming to The US

There have been a lot of issues and delays with bringing Alfa Romeo to the United States.  Thankfully, we are now only months away from seeing the first 4C Alfa Romeo cars hitting the streets of the USA.  According to Alfa Romeo, the first 100 4C’s will ship to the US by late June or July of 2014.

It’s been close to 20 years since Alfa Romeo has been able to sell cars in the US.  Even this close to finally having an official product available, details are still being kept secret.  For example, where will you be able to buy the Alfa Romeo 4C?  There are 2 different dealerships that are being considered, Fiat and Maserati.

Chevrolet Spark

You will soon be seeing an unusual little car on the road from Chevrolet that is sure to spark a lot of discussion. Perhaps sensing this, Chevrolet has actually named this new car the “Spark” and it is bound to get a lot of press real soon. It’s a neat little car.

First, the Spark is a funky looking thing with a broad body and little wheels. And it’s small – a full 14 inches smaller than Chevy’s present smallest model, the Sonic. Most that see the Spark in person declare it a car “brimming with personality” and that will likely make it a hit with younger buyers. Another strong plus for the younger set is that the Spark is one of the least expensive cars on the market. Monthly payments on Sparks are especially striking with the low loan rates now available. If you are in the Philadelphia area, be sure to consider a Chevy loan, at Reedman Toll Chevrolet.

The 2013 Spark will be offered in three trim packages; the LS, 1LT and 2LT trims. The standard LS features include 15-inch alloy wheels, AC, power windows, 60/40-split-folding rear seats, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt steering wheel, GMs OnStar system and a four-speaker radio. Moving up to the 1LT trim adds quite a few features. You get power-adjustable mirrors, cruise control, remote keyless entry, the MyLink touchscreen interface, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, steering-wheel-mounted audio and phone controls, a six-speaker audio system with USB/iPod integration, satellite radio and Internet radio. The top-of-the-line 2LT model adds fog-lights, roof rails, a sporty front and rear fascia, chrome exterior trim, high-quality faux leather upholstery, front heated seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Powering the 2013 Chevrolet Spark is a super thritfy 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 84 horsepower and 83 pound-feet of torque. Transmissions available are a standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 32 city/38 highway and 34 mpg combined for the manual and 28/37/32 mpg for the automatic.

Standard safety features on the 2013 Chevy Spark include four-wheel antilock brakes (front discs, rear drums), hill-hold assist, electronic stability and traction control, front and rear side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front-seat knee airbags. GMs OnStar is also standard and includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance and turn-by-turn navigation.

With only 84 hp — less than many motorcycles — it’s clear that the 2013 Chevrolet Spark is not intended to excite those into performance motoring but there is adequate acceleration for merging onto freeways and that’s what counts for most motorists. Road and wind noise are a touch noticeable, but no more intrusive than in other cars in this price range. Although far from a sport sedan, this small Chevy still manages to deliver well-mannered driving characteristics overall and is bound to be a hit for Chevrolet.

Launch of The 2013 BMW M6 Coupe

The M6 coupe launches for the 2013 model year, joining the convertible. After a two-year hiatus, the third generation of the M6 is back and making quite a powerful impression on the street. It boasts the most powerful engine ever outfitted in a BMW paired with a high-torque 7-speed M-Double Clutch. And just like its predecessor, its roof is molded from natural Carbon Fiber Composite for a more athletic stance.

The 2013 M6 has an athletic design, with powerfully taut surfaces, elegant lines, and precise contours. Its long hood and smooth bulging fender flares are impressive. Get in the cabin and you will find instrumentation that is clean and beautiful, with silver-rimmed analog gauges befitting of such a high-performance car. The Head-up Display is optional, and it’s so good that it should be a must with the fast M6 that needs your eyes on the road.

We were recently lucky enough to take a spin in the coupe. We visited BMW Towson, a car dealer serving Baltimore, and took the M6 to the streets of Maryland. The M6 Coupe uses an inline six engine, and we immediately noticed its smooth power and great acceleration. A number of pioneering technologies make this engine possible. An electronically controlled water pump helps increase power output. BMW’s patented Valvetronic system offers better fuel efficiency. And to save weight, BMW used a groundbreaking innovation that they were the first to use in a production car – an engine block made of a lightweight composite magnesium/aluminum.

M6 Coupe

The 2013 BMW M6 breaks new ground with acceleration from 0 to 60 in four seconds. The car can be programmed to more than 200 combinations of suspension, throttle, transmission, steering, and traction settings. In summary…the 2013 M6 delivers racecar performance on the track, or can be used as an everyday car.
