2011 BMW 5 Series By Hamann

Thinking about purchasing a modified BMW, consider the 5-Series complete with exterior and interior tuning by Hamann.  Hamann is a BMW tuner that specializes in performance and appearance tuning of all BMW cars.  For example, this BMW 5 Series has been worked over with special Hamann side skirts, spoiler, center valance, and even a roof spoiler.

Inside the 2011 Hamann BMW 5 Series is lots of carbon fiber trim, custom floor mats, aluminum pedals, and more Hamann badges than you can shake a stick at.  Granted, its all tastefully done, but the carbon fiber has been overused, every insert converted, and the dash is a maze of fiber.

Other than the additional goodies a la body kits, Hamann also lowered the car by up to 1.5″.  The effect is really amazing, giving the ass end a bow legged look and the side a low profile.  With the extra large rims and high performance tires, the exterior look is complete.  Hamann does an awesome job with the BMW, making it unique, and worthy of the price.

[ad#Google Adsense]Most cars that leave the factory are submitted to lots of tests with different setups. But then they go to the market with a setup suitable for most countries, and for an average driver. If you are an experience driver and a car to you is not a means of transport only, then those standard cars are not for you. You can however ask for a more sport setup of load the car with OEM accessories.

Some times that is not enough and then car tuning can be the way to go. Car tuning is the process of modifying and enhancing a vehicle’s performance and style through engine, suspension and body modifications. It is both an industry and a hobby.

Tuning began not long after the invention and mass production of the automobile. People that love cars and are passionate by tuning life style, feel the need to modify their vehicle to be unique, faster and safer to drive.

There are probably many people that don’t quite understand the mentality of a tuner and in particularly why they spend so much money on a car which will never be a profitable investment. However, for those for whom this is a passion or a way of life this is the best possible investment, and is the reason to get out of bed in the morning.

The interest of tuning is increasing exponentially and almost every town or village, no matter how small, has car tuning fans, events and companies that modify cars or just sell tuning parts.

As the tuning industry has grown, numerous different tuning styles have grown up, as well because there are also lots of cult and interests, music and different urban styles. Different countries regulations and economics also play a role in the type and quality of car tuning. From hot rods to the import scene, from German cleanest style to the most incredible show cars, you can see that today car tuning is very popular.

Car tuning companies are also everywhere. Of course the US, Europe and Japan concentrate most of them. Experts like Brabus, Techart, Dinan, Novitec, Veilside, Wald, Rieger, Oettinger can customize your car and improve the looks, performance, comfort and safety. You get a most exclusive car that will turn heads when you drive.

And you might think that there are cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley and others that could not be improved or people who buy them don’t care about tuning. Well you are wrong, even these cars can be customized and some companies develop exclusive programs to tune these cars and to make them even more exclusive.

Most Tunable Cars Today

[ad#Google Adsense]Car tuning is the best way to make your ride reflect your personal style and interests. However, some cars are more “tunable” than others are. What are the easiest cars to tune? What are the most popular cars on the market to turn into street rods? While that answer will be dictated in large part by your geographic area, as well as your interests and influences, the resounding answer for most of America is simple. Small cars, with 4-cylinder engines are the most popular thing to tune. These are what are known as pocket rockets.

What is a pocket rocket, you ask? The standard definition is a normally aspirated car with a 4-cylinder engine. In addition, these are usually small cars, compacts or subcompacts. Here are a few examples of this type of car:

  • Honda Civic

  • Honda Civic SI

  • VW Golf

  • VW Rabbit

  • VW Golf GTI

  • Dodge Neon

  • Dodge Caliber (which replaced the Neon)

There are, of course, many other types of cars. Hatchbacks tend to be extremely popular for this category. In fact, almost any small, lightweight car will work. The one caveat is that the car cannot have turbo or a supercharger installed, either before or after the modification.

What sets these cars apart and makes them pocket rockets? A series of simple modifications is all that is needed. The addition of a cold air intake and aftermarket ignition components is the start. In addition, a sport tuned suspension, an aftermarket exhaust system and performance wheels (note that these are not necessarily extremely large) are usually added.

Chip tuning a pocket rocket is the best way to maximize power and performance. Many of these vehicles are OBD I, which means that simply installing a new chip is all that is required. OBD II vehicles will need to have the ECU flashed in order to install new fuel maps and engine management software.

Chip tuning an OBD II car will require the services of a specialized shop. They will have the equipment necessary to reprogram the ECU; however, most of these shops do not provide the software or fuel maps required. That is left to the tuner. Thankfully, many companies online offer quality fuel maps for a wide range of vehicles.
