Porsche RS60 Spyder Special

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Porsche has released a new special edition of their 08 Porsche Boxster and it wears the RS 60 badge.  What it means to wear the RS60 name plate is increased horsepower, 303 horsepower to be exact.  This new horsepower rating will put it as the first Boxster rolling off the assembly line with more than 300 horsepower, albeit a small increase over the Boxster-S which already touts 295.

The RS60-equipped Boxster moves the price out of as-close-to-budget-as-a-Porsche-gets, the base price for a no-option Boxster is $45,800, easily optioned up to $51,415 in our Barber race track Boxster comparison car. The track-tested Boxster S listed at $55,700, and was up to $61,380 after order sheet additions. Our test 2008 Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder starts at $64,900, and with self-dimming mirrors and rain-sensing wipers ($690), heated front seats ($500), wind deflector ($375), automatic climate control ($550), and the sport chronometer package (which among other things can record lap times, for $960), end up with a bottom line of $69,065.

For an indepth analysis of the Porsche RS60 on the race track check out what The Automotive Examiner has to say.  They run the RS60 through it's paces and revue more than just rack times, but options, handling, and what it means to your wallet.

New Porsche Cayenne

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Looks like AutoCar.co.uk has spied some pictures of the next generation Porsche SUV, the Cayenne.  I'm not sure if this would be the 2010 Porsche Cayenne or even possibly the 2011 Cayenne, but it looks sharp no matter what.

Maybe I need to move to the UK so I can finally get some first hand photo's of these test cars on road and track.  Check out the spy pics of the new generation Porsche Cayenne below.

Porsche Granted Majority Share In Volkswagen

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

As far as the US concerned the green light has been given to Porsche to increase it's stake in Volkswagen.  The U.S. antitrust authorities ok'd the deal today.  This change will effectively give Porsche over 50% of Volkswagen share, making it majority holder.

Summer is here and apparently it's time for mergers.  Keep your eyes peeled for some important changes coming to Volkswagen, maybe they will get more expensive...or maybe Porsche will drop in price. lol

New Porsche Panamera

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Porsche announced that they will start production on their highly anticipated Panamera next April.  The super sleek and sexy Porsche Panamera, packed with 405hp for the standard v8 and 520hp with forced induction, should be available come 2009.  However, those looking for the less expensive and more wussyfied V6 version will have to wait until 2010 and 2011 for the tree hugger version of the Panamera.

The 4-Door monster Panamera looks to weigh in about 4,000lbs but will be a great option for those not wanting an ugly Cayenne.  Thanks to the AutoBlog.com for the great picture of this upcoming 4 door super car, the Porsche Panamera.
