It may sound a bit odd, considering the state of upheaval the US economy and much of the world is in, but Lamborghini sales rose 1% last year. A significant amount, when you consider their cars sell for around $200k each, which is making them consider new dealerships in 2009. The super rich always seem to have money, even in a down economy.

At the Detroit auto show Lamborghini showed off their Matte Blue finish LP640. They were making a statement that those lucky enough to purchase a Lambo, were offered cosmetic options at the time of ordering. Custom colors are offered for everything from Brake Calipers to the type of leather used inside. Those with a big enough wallet can live by Lamborghini's moto, "Think The Impossible".

CarMagazine.co.uk got some great spy pics of the upcoming 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago.  According to insiders the name Murcielago will change to Jota, although I'm not sure I believe that.  Why change a super car icon to such a quaint crappy name?

From the spy pics below it looks like the 2010 Murcielago will be more fo the same on the outside, like a stealth fighter with wheels.  However under the fiberglass Lamborghini is doing away with the steel frame and moving towards a carbon fiber setup.  Some other hints of change exist in the computer system and more interesting the engine, which will reportedly be boosted to 700bhp out of 12 cylinders at a displacement of 6 litres.

I'm still struggling to understand what Lamborghini is thinking, are they really trying to capture a 4-door super car market?  Does such a market really exist?  The italian car manufacturer has released some teaser images of a new model they will be showing off at the Paris auto show, with supposedly 4 lambo doors.

The images are just awesome and there is no question Lamborghini knows how to make a hot super car, but they are breaking their own mold with this upcoming model.  According to industry analysts the new Lambo will feature a front-engine design, as opposed to their tried and true mid-engine designs of the past.  Throw in twice as many doors and you've got an all new contender in the super car market.

If you had all the money in the world, wouldn't you wan tall the cool toys?  I would and if I had said toys, like the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, I wouldn't want Joe Blow's Ripoff-Service working on it.  I mean, it's a finely tuned animal and any grease monkey with a wrench and plumbers crack shouldn't be allowed near it.  Apparently a certain rich Qatari felt the same way, only took it a bit to the extreme.

At the beginning of August it was reported that a resident of Qatar (I didn't know where it was either-wikipedia) had his Murcielago flown all the way to London and back.  This £20 000 round trip service was done, just to have the oil changed.
