2011 Kia Sportage Pics

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Oh how I love when new spy photos show up, adorning the new model are always some beautiful camouflage.  The latest spy pics are of the 2011 Kia Sportage SUV, thanks to LefLaneNews.com.

Not a lot is known about the 2011 Kia Sportage, but experts believe that some restyling in the form of coupe-like styling.  Again, so hard to tell with that ugly ass camo and the fact that manufacturers love changing things up right until release.  I don't think the 2011 Kia Sportage need a lot of attention right now and certainly won't get anyone's heart pumping, but new models need their glory.

Dealerships Going Under, Personal Info Safe?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

News is rittled with information on dealerships going under every single day.  This isn't just affecting domestic car dealerships either, it's affecting those like Kia, Hyundai, and others.  However, one question that always hung in the back of my mind, is how safe is all the information I give to a dealership anytime I buy a car?  Obviously they have to know everything about you before qualifying you for a loan, so what guarantees of privacy do you have after a dealership closes?

Today I found an article about a Kia dealership in Boulder, Colorado that left bins outside filled to the brim with previous customers information.  We're talking real personal information, like contact info, mother maiden names, social secutiy numbers, etc.  Thankfully, the police showed up and put a lock down on the bins, however it's not known if any information was stolen.

Officers have not yet taken an inventory of the bins, which were “stuffed to the top,” and do not know how many people might have been affected, Huntley said.

Unfortunately police have not been in contact with the defunct dealerships owners.  Local residents and previous customers are calling out for prosecution for not properly disposing of private information.  It's like coming home to a robber, your belongings are just left out in the open.

“We felt very violated, disrespected and angered,” Nate Snyder said. “They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

2010 Kia Soul, Scion Competitor

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The 2010 Kia Soul gives a first impression of a Toyota Scion rip off.  It's small, boxy, and looks like it would drive like my buddies gokart.  Now, depending on your taste for cars, this could be a good or bad thing.  For me, it's a bad thing, kind of like a coffin on wheels.

Now, for those looking to buy a cargo box that you can drive around the nighborhood, there is finally some competition in the market.  The Kia Soul is one such competitor and like the Nissan Cube, is much more of the same.  There is only so many lights, bells, and whistles you can cram on a card board box to make it look appealing.  Eventually you have to take a step back and say, 'Hey' this is still a cardboard box, why are we putting all these ugly interior lights in here?

Then there is the whole issue of actually being able to use such a vehicle.  I'm sure for those that don't have to actually haul more than their purse this would be  aperfect car, but for those of us with friends, golf clubs, or hell...even 2 bags of groceries this car isn't going to cut it.  Which then begs the question, who is the target audience for such a flashy tin can?  Is this audience willing to drop $15,000 plus for something that is not functional beyond it's driver looking like a cunt?

The upcoming 2010 Kia Sporta was caught in camouflage testing in what appears to be offroad snow.  The production model won't be available in show rooms until late 09, with plenty of upgrades not found in previous year models.

Most notable change is in the transmission, which in 2010 will feature a 6-speed gear box.  The Korean car manufacturer hopes that this change will help improve fuel economy.  Equipped with a turbo-diesel power plant the compact SUV should please the green spotters.  According to experts the 2005 makeover was the most successful in the Sportages 14 year life span and hopes are that the power train change will prove a selling point in an otherwise slumping market.
