TOKYO, May 28 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp's (7203.T) sales in Japan so far in May are down roughly 25 percent from the same period last year, President Katsuaki Watanabe said on Thursday.

Watanabe also told a small group of reporters at a business lobby gathering that he expected Toyota's domestic vehicle production to exceed 11,000 units per day in both June and July.

Toyota received more than 80,000 orders for its new Prius hybrid before sales started on May 18. (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo)

This is just crazy news, considering it is a world economy it's interesting to see even in Japan Toyota sales are slumping. Hopefully we are starting to bring the economy around... I'm tired of all this negative new.

I hate Honda. I think all their cars look the same. I really don't get why they have such a big following because their quality wouldn't be enough of a reason for me to buy one.

At the LA auto show in Dec 08 Suzuki was really pushing their cars. I think they're not all that exciting though. I mean it's hard to think of them as being a car company seriously, you know?

American Honda Motor Co. said its February sales fell 38 percent as sales of its top-selling Accord car and luxury Acura division plunged on low overall auto demand.

More bad news, another manufacturer, even one who makes cars found on the top consumer reports charts, looking for bailout along Toyota. I'll be glad when I can start posting about good news again.

For the first time in 59 years Toyota will be posting a 40% drop in domestic auto sales.

Toyota has turned to Japan’s government to borrow money for U.S. car loans as private investors demand as much as 50 percent more in interest for the company’s debt. Plunging sales and a stronger yen forced the Toyota City, Japan-based carmaker to triple its operating loss estimate for this year within a two- month period.

I'm confused how Toyota, a manufacturer that has been posting HUGE profits in the past few years, requires a bailout from their government because of one downturn. Perhaps someone in the automotive industry has more insight than I do, but it doesn't seem right, Toyota, just like the big 3, should have been saving some cash for a rainy day.

It's just too bad that the Big 3 have been having rainy days for the past 2 years.

Maruti achieved highest ever domestic and total sales in February. The company sold 70,625 units in the domestic market, up 19.1% over corresponding month last year. The previous highest monthly domestic sales were 67,005 units, recorded in January 2009.

Very good news some car manufacturer is picking up the slack where the big 3 are leaving off. Perhaps a sign of things to come.
