]]> I'm really not much of a VW fan and after seeing the new 2009 Volkswagen Passat not much has changed.  I'm not exactly sure what target audience the new Passat is aimed at, but my guess is those people are in their mid 90's and about to go way of the Dodo, so why still build for them?

Perhaps it goes over better in the European market but in the US, for the price I'm sure a better lookign Mercedes or Lexus would be better received.  The Passat's interior could possibly be it's only saving grace and the seat designs are fantastic.  But now, the more I think of it, the 2009 VW Passat kind of reminds me of a casket with wheels, so maybe they are targeting the right audience.

I love the looks and the hunch back roof line gives it sporty appeal.  If targeting the Rav4 market I think Toyota may have some steep competition when this bad boy is finally released, especially for the price.

]]> As far as the US concerned the green light has been given to Porsche to increase it's stake in Volkswagen.  The U.S. antitrust authorities ok'd the deal today.  This change will effectively give Porsche over 50% of Volkswagen share, making it majority holder.

Summer is here and apparently it's time for mergers.  Keep your eyes peeled for some important changes coming to Volkswagen, maybe they will get more expensive...or maybe Porsche will drop in price. lol

]]> It just so happens during my many late night surfing of the net I found some new spy photos of the upcoming VW Golf. Kind of unexpected considering the sales of the 07 haven't been going on that long, but then I was straightened out, sales over seas has been going on for quite some time. According to Wheels24.co.za a next generation was ordered by VW, to meet demand and cut costs.

The pictures being laid out before you are the test phase, which is supposedly based on the previous year Golf platform. Analysts believe that the next generation 08 VW Golf will contain a few appearance upgrades but mainly cost savings in the gut of the car.
