Build Your Own Buick

There are many individuals who would jump at the chance to create and even customize cars for the future. Well, bespoke cars are not a far-off possibility. Buick has just created a website in which you can choose and build a 2014 car model, fully designed by none other than yourself. Buick has long been known to be one of the oldest independent automobile companies that still exist today. Buick does not only offer city cars but also has luxury vehicles under its arsenal. Due to high public demand, the company has provided their loyal customers a way to design their ultimate dream Buick car, which may be a simple one or an expensive one – the choice is all up to you. Start by viewing your nearest Buick dealerships inventory like that of Pitre Buick.

Steps in Creating and Building Your Own Buick

The first step in designing your Buick car is to select the year of your choice, from 1926 up to 2014. Whether you choose 1926, it won’t be a fatal error, for everything is valid. Having to choose from car models from 1988 to 2003 would understandably result in varied design specifications and features. Your next step would be to choose the body style and the exterior design of your choice of car. Design choices are numerous, ranging from the classic to more modern aesthetics. There are also descriptions available that you might want to scan to enable you to choose appropriately. Some of the popular designs are the 2014 Buick Enclave and 2014 Buick Verano, which are part of Buick’s luxury lines.

Right after choosing the design, you can choose the type of engine that you want or any air conditioning models, as cars need to perform well and have superior drivability. You would then be asked to specify your zip code in order to proceed with your transaction. It would then generate a quotation specifying the underlying costs entailed to make your dream car become a reality.

Advantage of Building the New Buick

One of the advantages is that you will have the chance to experience and decide on your own on what you want. It may be quite challenging to most individuals who do not have a car design nor engineering background, but the bespoke appeal and unique qualities of your masterpiece is what makes your efforts rewarding. Buick has since grabbed a lot of attention with this new customer-oriented feature that has given them a remarkable marketing edge. The goal of this new scheme is to directly communicate and interact with the consumers and for them to have the ease of specifying which automotive styles and features they would rather have for themselves. In appealing to their client’s freedom of choice, Buick has found a way to keep themselves relevant in the fast-changing lifestyle and aesthetic sensibilities of their loyal customers.

Chrysler Recognized for Conservation Efforts

The Chrysler Group recently received recognition for its commitment to environmental stewardship at the Wildlife Habitat Council’s (WHC) 25th Annual Symposium, Celebrating Corporate Conservation. Chrysler was given a ‘Wildlife at Work’ certification for its Chrysler Group World Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Chrysler Group World Headquarters and Technology Center was one of 255 programs recognized at the 2013 Symposium as meeting the strict certification requirements of Wildlife at Work. Wildlife at Work certification recognizes outstanding wildlife habitat management efforts at corporate sites, and offers third-party validation of the benefits of such programs.

The headquarter’s property includes preserved wetlands on a 465-acre site. A wide variety of wildlife species have been observed on the site and the area includes a 1.5-mile nature trail as well as an activities area with a ball field and picnic tables. There are four natural wetlands on Chrysler’s property. These wetlands are an important habitat for great blue herons, which have formed a nesting colony on the property. The water levels and water quality of the wetlands are maintained for all wildlife by directing road runoff away from the wetlands, direct precipitation into the wetlands, and minimizing erosion.

A Commitment to Manufacturing

Chrysler’s success as one of the “Big Three” in American automobile manufacturing industry did not come without any bumps and grinds. The manufacturing company has its own shares of buy outs, mergers, and yes even the most feared reality of a bankruptcy. Despite all these, Chrysler as a manufacturer and as a brand, continues to soar high in the automotive industry continuously forging a commitment to reestablish the Chrysler mark as an upscale brand. Defying all the odds, it successfully emerges as the 12th biggest automaker in the world in terms of production. It has also become one of the major automakers in North America, with large dealerships like Earnhardt Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Ram in the greater PHX area.

More Heads are Better than One

Unknown to many, the Chrysler brand is not just a single entity working for its own profits but as a manufacturer of top leading brands, it is working in several partnerships with Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands on a worldwide scale. Part of its expansion plan since it was founded in 1928 is to sell leading vehicle brands in the early times. Fargo range of trucks and the Dodge line of automobiles were the first to bear the Chrysler name after buying it from the Dodge brothers; later on, Plymouth and DeSoto automobile brands followed suit. Other distinct brands carrying the top-of-the-line Chrysler car make is the Imperial and the Valiant brand names. At this point Chrysler categorized its vehicle offering in the market by price class and function. Valiant, Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler and Imperial, ranging from the lowest to highest price from 1940’s thorough the 1970’s. By the late 1970’s Chrysler had its first taste of near bankruptcy and later recovered in the 1980’s. By 1987,Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation and eventually adding the profitable Jeep brand  under its name. The next year started a merging with a German automaker Daimler-Benz bringing forth the name DaimlerChrysler. And in 2007, renamed as Chrysler LLC as a selling out option after investors contended with the DaimlerChrysler merge. The selling of all its assets has now formed the “new Chrysler” to become Chrysler Group LLC while on the verge of shutting down for the second time after being hit hard by the automotive industry crisis. And finally, Italian car maker Fiat takes ownership and control of Chrysler after buying its shares from the US treasury in 2011. This time, making Chrysler foreign owned by in fact its former subsidiary Fiat.

Master of Innovation

A history filled with sudden changes of several partnerships and ownership does not lower the standards of  Chrysler’s quest to automotive making excellence. The Chrysler brand name is all about providing its customers advanced and well engineered cars at a more affordable price. This element of advanced engineering is the main foundation of the Chrysler brand heritage. Several innovations launched by Chrysler has been adopted by the automobile industry worldwide such as the very first wheel with a ridge rim Chrysler developed to keep a deflated tire from flying off its wheel. As early as their launching of the first Chrysler automobile in 1924, several features of the car is not yet seen in most autos at that time. Some of its other innovations include: high compression engine, an oil filter, a full pressure lubrication and a carburetor air filter. Some other innovations developed in those early years was the four-wheel hydraulic brakes, and rubber engine mounts that reduces vibration. Another first, Chrysler developed and produced was the world’s first all-transistor car radio found in the 1956 Imperial car models.

Advanced engineering ingenuity, and affordability of the Chrysler brand pushed not only the company’s sales domestically but globally as well being one of the “Big Three” US automakers. Not marred by several transformations and failures, Chrysler Group’s contributions to the automotive industry is the main core of its sustainability.

The Lil’ Red Truck

lil red truck

Back in 1978 one of the most interesting trucks ever made was released by Dodge. Called the Lil’ Red Express Truck, this vehicle offered unique styling and outrageous performance. In fact, in 1978, the Dodge Lil’ Red Express was the fastest American-made vehicle from 0 to 100 MPH as tested by Car and Driver magazine. Yes, this included the Corvette and other brute American steel in comparison.

How could this be? The service manager at Arrigo Automotive in West Palm Beach, FL tells us that it was due to the EPA emission regulations at the time. Because of a loophole in the regulations, the 1978 Dodge Lil’ Red Express Truck did not have to have any restrictive catalytic converters in the exhaust pathway like passenger cars did. What the Lil’ Red Express did have was pure performance. The engine was a special high performance 360 ci  4-barrel small block engine which was a modified version of the company’s 360 ci police engine. The package also included Hemi style free-flow mufflers with a crossover pipe breathing through 2 x 2.5” monster chrome stacks located behind the cab, a specially modified Mopar 727 automatic transmission and 3.55:1 rear axle gearing.
