November brings more than turkey to the United States, it is also the time for the Los Angeles Auto Show and all the new debuts manufacturers will be making.  Sure to be a show stopper this year will be the debut of the 2010 Lexus RX SUV.  This same Lexus RX has been seen testing in Germany and rumors abound that it will make it's first official showing in LA.

What's unique about the 2010 RX SUV is that it will have options for a V6 hybrid motor capable of 400 horsepower.  This potent green machine will carry up to 7 passengers and offer all kinds of luxury technological advances.

Oh yeah, it also looks bad ass.

2010 Lexus RX

I try to leave my politics out of my automotive blog, but this news story takes the cake.  Apparently a recent Lexus ad, displaying it's new RX 400h SUV hybrid, upset some environmentalists and got it banned.  According to those opposed to the advertisement it created an appearance that the Lexus SUV did not have an impact on the environment, or at least it was cleaner than it really was.

The Advertising Standards Authority was responsible for removing the ad amongst a number of complaints.  The primary complaint was that the SUV caused 'little to no harm' to the environment, rather than just being a good choice in todays economy and environment.  Hell, after all this SUV hybrid goes above and beyond current standards, so I'm not sure why such a rash action on behalf of the ASA would be taken.

People who complain about stuff like this need to get out and get a job.  Seriously.

The Lexus GS 300 has been around since the early 90's and since it's birth has been a symbol of elegance for teh Lexus brand.  The Lexus GS model has gone through 3 different generations, each improving upon the luxury sedan and even offering a GS 430 with a v8 power plant.

Through the GS series life it's won a number of awards, not limited to teh JD Power and Associates best mid-size luxury car for 4 years in a row.

* J.D. Power and Associates named the GS series the best midsize luxury car in initial quality for 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.[6][7]
* AAA named the third generation GS 300 the best car in its class for 2005.[8]
* Consumer Reports awarded the Lexus GS as the highest ranked vehicle in predicted reliability in the luxury car class in 2005.[9]
* The GS 450h's Lexus Hybrid Drive system was the recipient of the annual Paul Pietsch Prize for Advanced Technology in 2007, awarded by technical editors of Auto Motor Und Sport publications.[10]
* The Lexus GS 450h was named the winner of the 2007 IF product design award from the International Forum Design group in Hannover, Germany.[11]
* German automotive magazine Auto Bild selected the GS 450h for its "Auto 1" award for best sedan in 2007.[12]
* Smart Money magazine named the Lexus GS the best luxury sedan for the 2003-2004 model year.[13] In 2005, the magazine named the GS its Best New Car Value.
* The GS series was named most appealing midsize luxury car by J.D. Power and Associates in 2001.[14]
* The first generation GS series was named to the Top Ten in Initial Quality list by J.D. Power and Associates in 1994.
* Kelley Blue Book gave the GS series its Best to Hold Value Award in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.[15]
* The second generation GS was named Import Car of the Year by Motor Trend in 1998.
* Car and Driver named the second generation GS to its Ten Best list in 1998, 1999, and 2000.

The latest branch in the Lexus tree is the performance model Lexus IS F.  This freaking amazing machine is tameable to keep as a grocery getter or wild enough to lay down impressive numbers on the race track.  That's what happens when you take the base Lexus IS and drop a 5 liter v8 into the bay.

The IS F is capable of churning out over 400 hp and drip sex as it passes you on the freeway.  To make things smooth for this subcompact super car Lexus outfitted the IS F with a 8 speed automatic with a manual-shift mode.  That means 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and an estimated top speed of 170mph, which I'd happily verify if they ever let me get my greasy hands on one.

Hippy tree huggers should feel good too when they buy this performance Lexus, because it gets an amazing 23 mpg on the highway.  Not that stinky non bath taking hippies could afford the $57,000 base price tag anyways.

Paul McCartney has recently been quoted as being 'horrified' that his fuel saving, earth loving, tree hugging, green car has left a monstrous carbon foot print.  According to the AP, Lexus gave Paul McCartney a new Lexus 600h hybrid car as a gift because he was promoting it's greeness.  All fine and dandy, but instead of shipping the vehicle the environmental way, they opted to Air freight it, leaving a carbon foot print equal to that of a car with a typical combustion engine and driving it 300 times around the world.

The way I look at it, if he's seriously concerned with the carbon foot print his little $158,000 gift has left I'd be first in line to sell him Lexus 600h carbon credits.  As you can see from the picture below of the car Paul McCartney was given, it's expensive to be green, especially when it's all in vain. lol

It's not enough to resemble the bat mobile, the upcoming Lexus super car, the LF-A comes with a retractable wing. You can see in the pictures of the 2011 Lexus LF-A that it's all business and the ride height doesn't allow any room for error on pot holes or curbs.

Bringing a luxury SUV to the wealthy and/or those of us who don't mind getting in debt up to our eyeballs. It's sophistication(far more than this site has), luxury, and more bling than you can shake a $74,000 stick at. But I digress, I'd be driving the 2008 Lexus LX 570 if I had the means.

Green folk need not apply to this SUV, it packs a potent 383 horsepower V8. Plenty o-power to enjoy some offroad trails, if you have the guts, and handle nicely all over any cross country trips a family of 8 might make. In addition, everyone can stay comfortable doing it as well, since the LX 570 has a 4 section climate control with 28 independent vents. Ahhh, now that spells relief in 100 degree weather.

Toyota has issued a recall on more than a quarter million Lexus model vehicles. All the recalls were in regards to a defective fuel line which could lead to fuel leakage. Yet another blow to Toyota and Lexus brand reliability standard. Expect recalls such as this to slow the grow of the manufacturer, set to overtake GM as the largest Automotive Manufacturer in the world.

In the United States, the latest Toyota recall involves 26,274 Lexus GS300, 5,429 Lexus IS250, and 2,640 Lexus IS350 vehicles. The recalled Toyota models were exported from Japan, and the same models are also being recalled in Canada, England, and Germany. There have been 39 cases of trouble involving recalled Toyotas in Japan but no reports of injuries. It was not immediately clear whether any problems have been reported elsewhere.

Today, Lexus Canada and Sirius Canada announced that they would be extending  their partnership. This means that all Lexus vehicles will be coming equipped with Sirius compatible radios, for the best in satellite radio enjoyment.

I'm fairly certain I felt something move when I spotted the latest spy shots of the upcoming Lexus.  Fat Wallet Elites have had to keep their lips wet since the Detroit Auto Show 2005 when the machine was first debuted. It's came a long way since it's first prototype, maybe we will see a finished product soon.
