Lamborghini has been and always will be at the forefront of design, that mimics the future. Sharp lines, thruster mimic’d exhaust, and a car that borders unusable. It’s for looks, it’s for boasting speed, and for showing off what could be done. That’s why Lamborghini makes the best concept cars, the Egoista is no exception.
The Egoista is a single seater super car, with more than 600 horsepower and a cock pit that seems better fit inside a fighter jet. It’s cliche, but the concept looks like it was built for a flying car, not a road warrior. Even the rear of the vehicle mimics flaps and thrusters like what you would see on an aircraft.
But, I digress, it’s all for show, it is a concept and an outlandish Lamborghini. This is why the spectacle garners so much attention from the automotive crowd. And this is why, even the name, Egoista, means “selfish”. Thank you Walter de Silva for creating such an amazing looking concept, perhaps the closest any of us will get to our very own rocket ship.
That’s right, the next show stopper at the Geneva Auto Show will be the Lamborghini Aventador drop top. This super car sports race car looks, cool open roof, and true Lamborghini attitude. It’s not just looks, like any Lamborghini, this power house delivers 60 second times in the neighborhood of 2.8 seconds, thanks to a v12 mill.
The pictures below of the Aventador are known as the Aventador J, but also known as the Unica throughout super car rumor mills. So, if the leaked photos are any indication, this will be a true roadster, no roof to speak of. Don’t consider driving the Aventador on any wet roads or snowy days, this is a summer time flat asphalt ride all the way.
Lamborghini has always been known for their high horsepower pavement ripping works of art, this only makes it more difficult for them to raise the bar. Their answer is the Aventador, a 700 horsepower V12 capable of doing 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and doing so in a recognizable canvas.
My first impression of the Aventador is that it looks like a stretched Gallardo, with slightly more aggressive lines. I imagine the larger wheel base and stretched appearance lends itself to a more stable ride at max speed, somewhere around 217 mph. Also, thanks to advancements in weight positioning, the 6.5 liter engine seated over the rear tires allows for breakneck 0-60 times of 2.9 seconds.
The Aventador comes in a variety of color combinations and options, including 2 solid paint options of either black, yellow, or optional white. In addition, there are 4 different metallic colors, 4 pearl orange effects, and 3 different matte finishes.
How much does the Lamborghini Aventador cost? If you have to ask, it doesn’t matter, especially considering all 2011 models have already been spoken for. Ok, if you must know, the 2011 Aventador has a list price of $387,000. Get in line now for the 2012 model year and bring your check book.
Lamborghini has announced that the Jota will not be debuted at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. So, we can rule out the Jota as being the focus of the Lamborghini teaser pics released this past month. Instead, Lamborghini promises to debut an all new technology or perhaps some technology new to the Italian super car maker.
Still, this post isn’t lost on bad news alone, thanks to AutoEvolution.com we also have some amazing spy pics of the Jota on the Lamborghini test track.
Lamborghini has released another image teasing us about the upcoming supercar that will debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The Lamborghini rumor mill suggests that the new super car will focus less on top speed and more on handling and acceleration. This is a step away from previous models goals of trying to hit the trifecta of top speed, acceleration, and handling.
Below are the two images released by Lamborghini, which are nothing more than a tease of what will be coming. If it’s from Lamborghini I can guarantee the buzz is real and what pops up at Paris will be the new poster child for what the common man will never attain.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition is named after apprentice-turned test driver Valentino Balboni. Balboni was charged by Lambo with test driving every new model Lamborghini produced and thus became legendary. This new Gallardo is labeled with his name and receives some special treatment, ala some crazy horsepower sent only to the rear wheels, as opposed to a Gallardo’s typical all-wheel drive setup.
Some of the enhancements that can be found within the Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni edition is the 20″ wheels, increased horsepower from 550-582hp, and some cosmetic labeling. It’s being called one of the best cars ever made by Lamborghini and possibly the most dangerous. It’s a lot of horsepower to be sent to only 2 wheels and special care must be taken by any driver, experienced or not.
The tuner company Anderson Germany is responsible for the tweaks found in the Gallardo LP 550-2. The tuning company is known for taking luxury vehicles and modifying them to the customers needs and making truly remarkable super cars.
