Jeep Wrangler Wins Yet Another Award

The Jeep Wrangler is not new to winning awards…but within the last month Jeep’s beloved SUV has won four awards. Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine has handed the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab its coveted “4×4 of the Year” Award, the second consecutive year that the Jeep Wrangler has won.

Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine is often considered to be the leading off-road-enthusiast publication so winning this award is a huge honor for Jeep. How is the winner of this award chosen? The editors of the magazine drive vehicles hundreds of miles evaluate suspensions, drivetrains, transfer case functionality, and off-road performance, on sand, mud, dirt, and rock. The Jeep Wrangler Moab edition passed those tests, and then some.

The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab

Jeep Wrangler debuted the Moab as a limited-edition model named after one of the most popular off-road destinations in the world – Moab, Utah. The Jeep Wrangler Moab is based on the Wrangler Sahara model and is equipped with hardware popular with off-roading enthusiasts. It offers 245/75R17 Goodyear SilentArmor off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement and standard Trak-Lok anti-spin rear differential with an available electronic rear locking differential. When equipped with a manual transmission and a 3.73 rear axle ratio, the Wrangler Moab has a crawl ratio of 45:1. Unique exterior features on the Wrangler Moab include a Mopar power dome hood, premium rock rails, black fuel filler door and tail lamp guards and matching premium black front and rear off-road bumpers. Other exterior touches include the new premium soft top, black wheel arches, a matte black Jeep grille badge and “Moab” decals on the hood. A body-color three-piece hard top is optional. Are you a Jeep fan and interested in test driving this model? Just visit Des Moine’s local Jeep dealer, Ken Garff and they will be happy to get you on the road in your favorite Jeep. The Jeep Wrangler Moab is available as a two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited model available in Crush, Dozer, Rock Lobster, Gecko, Black and Bright White. And like all 2013 Jeep Wrangler models, the Moab edition features Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, delivering benchmark capability, excellent every-day on-road driving dynamics, and fuel economy up to 21 miles per gallon.

2013 Jeep Trail Rated Models – Made to Overcome

The Jeep is one of the most recognized brands in the world. They are known for their iconic look and their unmatched off road abilities. Many Jeep models carry a special designation that no other vehicle on the market has…Trail Rated.

So, what exactly does being ‘Trail Rated’ mean? In one sentence…it means the freedom to go anywhere and do anything and it is the recognized standard for proven off-road capability. Jeep Trail Rated vehicles pass a series of grueling tests designed to prove off-road performance on the world’s most demanding terrain. How far will a Trail Rated Jeep take you? These 4x4s have enough traction to climb the type of hills most people would only attempt with a rope and a spotter. Jeep vehicles offer a variety of 4×4 systems to suit all kinds of terrain and driving conditions. Testing includes traction on untamed, slippery roads, and on steep grades.

2013 Jeep

Before a Jeep is awarded a Trail Rated certification, the automaker first tests each model on some of the toughest off-road areas in the world, including Moab and the famed Rubicon Trail. One of Jeep’s best known Trail Rated models is the Wrangler. We recently visited Arrigo DCJ – a leading dealer of South FL, and went along on a trail ride in a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. This Wrangler offered solid proof of the ability to drive over obstacles or logs, or whatever else happens to be in your path. The ability to cross a specific depth of water at a specific speed keeps you moving forward so you can cross streams and flooded underpasses. The Wrangler Rubicon features additional electrical and body sealing, along with a high air intake for optimum water fording capability.

Jeep vehicle capability is legendary, and 4×4 mastery has always been the cornerstone of the Jeep brand. All 2013 Wrangler models come equipped with a Trail Rated4WD system as standard equipment. Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and Sahara come with new wheels for 2013. If you are interested in getting out on the trail, and venturing beyond the road, a Jeep Trail Rated model is the only way to go.

2011 Jeep Wrangler Interior Spy Pics

Photos have leaked out revealing the interior updates coming to the 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited.  Not only has the interior been revamped and considered ‘all new’ but the age old tan and black tops will be replaced with body color alternatives.

The interior shots look to show off some luxury type upgrades.  The first thing that jumps out at me is the steering wheel mounted audio controls and chrome accented bezels on the gauges.  Although they are spaced about the same, the slight changes in trim make a big difference.  Obviously depending on the 2011 Jeep Wrangler model you settle on, some of these changes may or may not be standard.  We are still waiting on an official word from Jeep.

Other noticable changes, which have been pointed out by avid Jeep fans from allpar.com, are the smoother door lines.  No more thick bulky plastic trim and more of a refined look.  So, will this new remodel of the interior hurt the rugged image of the Wrangler?
