Elgin Toyota dealer believes new Tundra shines above competition
Although the tundra can conjure up a picture of a cold, barren and desolate land, the Toyota Tundra is anything but and with its 4.0-liter V6 it is competitive and versatile. Chicago Toyota hybrid buyers will only be able to fully appreciate this ride once they get behind the wheel.
Not billed as luxury truck, “in fact Toyota phrased it as “Power and Efficiency. Like steak and eggs”, the Tundra is all business with 18-inch steel wheels and a rather generic interior. But you can add a BX Work Truck Package that offers four-way seats and power windows and locks. Standard amenities include a dual-zone climate control and six-speaker AM/FM stereo with six-CD player and auxiliary jack.
Your Elgin Toyota dealer wants to point out the engine, though, which is worth a look. The 24-valve aluminum block has 270 horsepower and 278 pounds-feet of torque. It features WT to regulate cam timing for the exhaust and intake valves, which greatly improves efficiency.
Despite being vinyl, the seats are very comfortable for the long haul and visibility is very good as well. The ride is much smoother too, thanks to improvements Toyota has make with rear body mounts.
Space is abundant with the first row seats in a 40/20/40 split bench that features a center armrest and cup holder. (That cup holder can become very important on those long hauls.) The second row offers lots of cargo space and the rear bench seat can fold up or seat three.
When it comes to fuel economy Chicago Toyota hybrid customers may be surprised that a truck is getting these numbers, but Toyota has worked to bring them up. The Tundra with V6 is rated 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
One things some test drivers did notice missing and really would like to see (are you listening, Toyota?) is a tachometer, which is conspicuous by its absence since there is a space for it. That’s certainly not a deal breaker, though.
All in all, the Tundra is a fine truck that is perfect for what it was designed to do – work. Elgin Toyota buyers will be pleased with the base price of $ 24.435. It was even awarded Best Overall Value of the Year in its class by IntelliChoice and has received lots of praise from buyers.
For buyers who want a good, solid truck and don’t want to pay extra for a lot of luxury features, this is the way to go, as it has power, comfort and space. The mileage ratings are adequate and Tundra is made by Toyota, who promises to put the customer first. That’s worth a lot these days and might just be what gets customers to take a drive in the Tundra.
