After being off the market for a year, the Dodge Durango re-emerges with a new body and a new style of driving that makes it competitive against other crossover SUVs. The new 2011 Dodge Durango now has a car-like single unit platform, which is much different from the tuck-like body-on-frame SUV structure of former models. The Dodge Durango’s new body gives it a quieter, more balanced ride and better handling dynamics. There have also been upgrades to the interior with higher quality and more luxurious materials replacing lower quality plastics.
Improvements to the Dodge Durango have also been made under the hood. The 2011 Durango has a smoother and more powerful 3.6–liter V6 engine that cranks out 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of Torque, a noticeable increase of 80 horsepower over the earlier 3.7-liter V6 engine. Some of 2011 Durango models come with an optional 5.7 Liter V8 engine, which offers 360 horsepower and 390 pounds-feet of torque. You can buy a used Durango engine with anywhere from a 3.7 liter to a 5.9 liter engine.
